Colin Banks

Colin is one of the most exciting and distinctive contemporary wildlife artists around today. Working with a dark airbrush on aluminium he uses different implements, including scalpels and pizza cutters, to scrape away the top layer of paint revealing a lighter colour below. This laborious method of working, also known as intaglio, helps to create artwork that is both striking and dynamic. He works directly from photographs taken by himself or his four-year-old son, Charlie.
