Born in Londons East End In the 50's Gerry saw a lot of devastation in the area due to Bombing during the Second World War... many homeless people living in bombed ruins and wasteland. Gerry always felt a great affinity to these unfortunate people and spent time as a young adult talking with them and finding out about their stories. And he always determined that he would paint them portraying their lives on a canvas. Growing up and being schooled in East London Gerry was a bit of a Rogue and excelled at art. It was his true love and has been his living all of his life... He has travelled to many places but always painting the people he meets and telling their stories in art. This new series of homeless people shows the utter hopelessness that they suffer and Gerry hopes that these paintings can tell part of their story and make us feel differently about their situation and hopefully change our point of view.
